Chase the Sunset 10K
Chase the Sunset is a 10K race on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles that had a movie star theme with some iconic LA flair. This project helped me explore the intersection between branding and UX/UI.

Final Pages
Being a runner myself, I found that a lot of race websites were lacking accessible key information and intuitive design.
Because this was more of a design sprint, I focused on the most important features that runners would need. Through this I designed a home page, race information page, and registration page.
Problem:
I wanted this website to get runners excited about the race while also keeping them informed. I also designed a race map that is featured on the home page. I found that sometimes it can be hard for racers to find the route they are running, I eliminated this by making it one of the focal points on the main page.
Strategy:
Style Tile
Since the theme of the race is Hollywood stardom, I chose to create the logo using two film strips to make a runner icon. These strips appear many times in the website as well.
Style Tile
When creating my brand, I wanted to use the typical sunset colors to match the theme of the race without being too overwhelming or 'in your face', so I made most of the visuals black and white with a pop of sunset colors and icons to make it more palatable for the viewer.
App and Mobile Ticket
Along with the website, I decided to make a mobile version that racers could use to show their ticket for bib pickup and race day. Usually with races, participants will just show an email to check in. This offers a bit of personalization and helps racers easily access whatever they need on race day.
Wireframes
This project really helped me strengthen concepts like user flow strategy and brand consistency. I played around with the balance between website aesthetics and functionality. I achieved my main goal was to keep the viewer engaged while also creating an intuitive direction through the site.
